UCalgary’s newest department — Earth, Energy, and Environment — is celebrating its launch in a big way. The upcoming Sept. 27 evening kickoff event is designed to foster and engage community around Earth @ UCalgary, and is open to anyone with an interest in Earth, energy, or environmental science.

Beginning at 5:30 p.m., this free-admission event will include:
- An industry panel focused on the future of the sector — including careers, sustainability, and emerging technology
- A career fair for current and future students with leaders from the Earth, energy, and environmental fields
- The official first screening of the Earth, Energy, and Environment brand video
- Opportunities for alumni to connect with colleagues and faculty members
- Food, beverages, and prizes
Moderated by Calgary Chamber of Commerce CEO Deborah Yedlin, the panel will include a range of engaging speakers bringing diverse perspectives spanning energy, renewables, environmental science, and Indigenous insights.
Students attending the career fair will gain an understanding of the broad range of employment opportunities available in Earth, energy, and environmental science. They will learn how they can help address the key challenges of our time — from ensuring water and energy security to mitigating climate change and natural hazards.
Alumni, students, and faculty from across the UCalgary community and beyond are all welcome and encouraged to attend.
