A lot can happen in 10 years, particularly for an ambitious Haskayne School of Business graduate. Some alumni hit an amazing role where they can make a big impact right after graduation, while others have headed off to start their own tech ventures. The Rising Star Award is designed to honour recent graduates like these who are taking giant strides in the first decade after graduation.

“This is an exciting opportunity to see who is making an impact in their early career,” says Stella Garcia, associate director, alumni engagement at the Haskayne School. “It is also a chance to showcase new alumni to our students, to their peers and to the business community at the Haskayne Alumni Awards event.”

The award will shine a spotlight on recent Haskayne grads, those who have completed their studies in the past 10 years or less. Nominees will be evaluated on innovation, contributions to the community, advocacy for higher education, and service to the Haskayne School of Business.

Haskayne Alumni Awards: Celebrating big ideas and bold leaders

Those at the peak of their careers have been honoured with a Management Alumni Excellence Awards since 2000. Past recipients include community leaders from a wide variety of industries including energy, residential development, finance and technology.

“Connecting with Haskayne alumni at our annual awards is one of the highlights of my year,” said Dr. Jim Dewald, dean, Haskayne School of Business. “We all leave the event very inspired by the amazing accomplishments achieved by engaging the lessons learned from the Haskayne School of Business.”

Beyond their career achievements, past recipients have continued to support Haskayne and its students along the way. Some have volunteered their time as a judge for the RBC Fast Pitch Competition, served on the Management Advisory Council or have worked to inspire the leaders of tomorrow through the Haskayne mentorship program.
