E. Catherine Barclay Scholarship Awarded 2019-20

The School of Languages, Linguistics, Literatures and Cultures is proud to announce this year's recipient of the E. Catherine Barclay Scholarship. The E. Catherine Barclay Scholarship is a generous award ($7500) granted to an outstanding full-time student registered in any faculty at the University of Calgary wishing to pursue studies in France through an official exchange program, for two semesters. Award holders must select courses in which the language of instruction is French.

Our heartiest congratulations go to Valentina Fajardo, the 2019-2020 E. Catherine Barclay Scholarship recipient.

Valentina is one of our best students in French, and the opportunity to study in France represents a natural progression in her studies. Valentina is currently pursuing a degree in French with a minor in Music and plans to become a translator or interpreter.

This year she was a member of the university's World Music Ensemble playing various instruments and genres. Outside of the university she volunteers at St. Michael Catholic Community during their youth nights and will be a walking tour guide in Calgary for the summer.

About the E. Catherine Barclay Scholarship

Offered annually to an undergraduate student registered in any faculty at the University of Calgary wishing to pursue studies in France through an official exchange program, for two semesters. Award holders must select courses in which the language of instruction is French.
