YLC Director’s Report: Hannah Alper

The Werklund School’s Youth Leadership Centre brought Hannah Alper to campus to share her inspirational message for making the world a better place.

“On March 19, close to 80 guests came together on campus to be inspired by Toronto native Hannah Alper, a 13 year old youth leader known around the world for her blog, CallMeHannah.ca.

Hannah’s blog covers issues on the environment, anti-bullying, wildlife conservation, fair trade, the importance of education, and eco-friendly living.

Alper was part of the Speaker Series from the Werklund Youth Leadership Centre (YLC) because she exemplifies the YLC’s motto, “Lead Now” in showing that you don’t have to wait until you are “trained” or “more mature” to be a leader.

If you have an idea on how to make the world a better place, don’t just think about it. Act.

If you think others will follow, don’t try to do it alone. Lead Now.

With more than 10,000 Twitter followers, Hannah has engaged and motivated people of all ages to become leaders themselves, to identify their passion, and to take action.

Registrants were encouraged to bring guests aged 10-25 who made up almost half the audience, and feedback shows they left inspired and considering ways they can lead in their own lives.”
