DOHA - The University of Calgary in Qatar has announced it is aligning its tuition policies with those of other Qatari post-secondary institutions and has reduced its tuition and fees to reflect rates at the University of Calgary in Alberta, Canada. Students will see a reduction in their tuition rates beginning in the Fall 2019 semester.

The news came at the University’s recent Open House event for prospective students. The new policy will exempt Qatari nationals from tuition in Foundations and Undergraduate programs. Residents of Qatar will be assessed tuition fees similar to those changed in Canada. Tuition fees for Qatari nationals and Residents of Qatar enrolled in the Master of Nursing program will be similar to those assessed in Canada.

“This is an important investment in Qatar’s national vision by making a high quality university degree more accessible for students and their families,” explained Dr. Deborah White, Dean, University of Calgary in Qatar. “Higher education in nursing is important to building capacity in Qatar’s healthcare system and supporting the National Health Strategy 2018 – 2022.”

The University of Calgary in Qatar’s new tuition structure is in response to extensive consultation with University sponsors, students, families, and industry partners and has the full support of the University’s Board of Trustees.

The University’s annual Open House event is an important opportunity for prospective students and their families to meet with faculty, students, alumni, and sponsorship partners at the same time. Prospective students can learn about the importance of nursing and different career paths that are available to nursing graduates.

The University of Calgary in Qatar has been educating nursing leaders for eleven years and has over 600 graduates working in all facets of Qatar’s healthcare system. As the only Canadian university in Qatar, it is the exclusive provider of Bachelor and Master programs in nursing to meet the unique needs of Qatari families and the country’s healthcare system.

Applications are now being accepted for the four-year Bachelor of Nursing (BN) program and two-year Master of Nursing (MN) program.
