Undergraduate Orientation Extravaganza

The Canadian Centre for Advanced Leadership in Business welcomes in the incoming undergraduate class

The Canadian Centre for Advanced Leadership in Business (CCAL) welcomed the newest undergraduates at the Haskayne Business School with an amazing orientation event filled with balloons, prizes, fun and useful knowledge for the start of their Haskayne careers.

The event’s objectives was to raise awareness about CCAL, engage the students in a memorable and fun activity and inform them about the programs that are available for them from their first day. The event was set up with teams being split into two groups of ten and competing against each other in a mini game show quiz about CCAL. The questions were posted on CCAL’s Snapchat Snap Story, where students could interact and find the questions. Answers for the questions were put on hundreds of balloons that were placed in two rooms where the teams were competing. Teams were encouraged to work together and use the Internet to find the answers on CCAL’s website. This was to help the students become more familiar with the website and resources available to them. After the mini game show was over, students were escorted out of the room and the answers to the questions were reviewed in a mini presentation. Students were introduced to the programs and initiatives that CCAL runs such as the Peer Mentorship Program, Leadership Challenge Weekend, Wilderness Retreat and the Haskayne Guided Path.

A lot of positive feedback was received for the whole event with students insisting the event be run annually in following years as well. “Wow! This is so amazing and fun!” an excited first year student enthusiastically stated. An orientation leader stated “We never had anything like this before, this is super amazing!”
