UCalgary Nursing moves up in Maclean's ranking of best nursing universities

Faculty of Nursing is currently fourth among 19 Canadian nursing schools

According to the Maclean’s magazine 2018 university rankings, UCalgary’s Faculty of Nursing is currently 4th among 19 Canadian nursing schools (up from 7th place in 2017) and 5th in research reputation.  The magazine has been ranking post secondary education in Canada for a number of years, but only since 2015 have they included schools of nursing.

“The ranking of Canadian nursing schools by MacLean’s is the only available source of comparative benchmarking currently available,” says nursing dean, Dianne Tapp. “Over the past several years in our faculty, we have been steadfastly building research capacity and productivity, excellent undergraduate and graduate programming and impact with community partners. To jump from 7th to 4th position among these top Canadian nursing educators is a remarkable achievement that we are very proud to report.”

The magazine ranks 19 universities who produce a minimum of 100 papers over the past five years. This minimum threshold is required as smaller numbers can skew results. Rankings are released in late fall of the previous year.
