UCalgary number 7 in graduate employability ranking

Graduate employment score jumps 43%

UCalgary maintains its rank at no. 7 nationally among 18 Canadian universities in the QS Graduate Employability Rankings 2022.   The university also maintained its global ranking in the 131-140 range. The results were published Sept. 23, 2021.

The University of Calgary also saw increases in four of the five indicator scores, with an impressive jump in the ‘Graduate Employment Rate’ score which increased by 43 per cent compared with the prior year results. This high ranking reflects the university’s reputation among employers for training highly skilled students.

“UCalgary is grounded in innovative learning and teaching,” says UCalgary President Ed McCauley. “We value environments rich in experiential learning, where students and faculty critically examine the world around them, grow as individuals and play an active role in addressing society’s most pressing challenges."

Methodology

Responses from over 75,000 employers were considered, 40,800 degrees and affiliations of over 29,000 high-achievers were mapped, 170,000 employers' connections with graduates were considered, and over 310,000 work placement partnerships were evaluated. Each institution’s total score is compiled based on the following five indicators:

  • Employer Reputation (30%)
  • Partnerships with Employers (25%)
  • Alumni Outcomes (25%)
  • Employer-Student Connections (10%)
  • Graduate Employment Rate (10%)
