Tia Halliday, Associate Professor in the Department of Art and Art History has a solo exhibition at Herringer Kiss Gallery which opens Friday, Sept. 8 from 5 - 7 p.m. The exhibition, titled "Gestures of Care - Weight of the World" runs until October 7, 2023. Tia Halliday will be giving a short public talk about the exhibition on Saturday, Sept. 9 at Noon, coinciding with Calgary's downtown gallery hop, with an additional public talk about the work coming soon (date TBA).

In her newest series, artist Tia Halliday explores metaphors of care and resilience through an investigation of line, abstraction, and figuration. Halliday uses her background in performance and dance as a touchstone for paintings that depict physical gestures of care between humans. Figures captured through lyrical line, bearing the weight of one another through daring acts of physical support, suggesting themes of connectivity, responsibility, and radical care.

The exhibition opens Friday, Sept. 8 from 5 - 7 p.m.
