Safaneh Mohaghegh Neyshabouri Wins Teaching Excellence Award

Dr. Safaneh Mohaghegh Neyshabouri (WMST) has received a 2020 Teaching Excellence Award, nominated by her students for being a passionate instructor who goes the extra mile to ensure their success.

The annual Students' Union awards program is a chance for students to nominate the teachers and teaching assistants who have made a "lasting, positive impression in the classroom." 

In addition to regularly teaching the introductory Women's Studies 201 course, in recent years Safaneh developed a Women's Studies course on Islam and Feminism, with a focus on "political, theoretical and pragmatic dimensions of feminist consciousness in the Islamic world." This upcoming Winter 2021 term, she'll be teaching a new special topics course on Gender and Desire in Islam (WMST 401.8).
