Research services update for Institute members
All University of Calgary branch libraries (with the exception of the Taylor Family Digital Library on main campus), including the Health Sciences Library (HSL), will remain closed this Fall due to COVID-19. This includes all bookable spaces at HSL.
The Taylor Family Digital Library (TFDL) on main campus will have limited bookable spaces for students needing computer or study space access.
Library staff remain hard at work and are offering a number of virtual services for students, researchers and university faculty.
The latest COVID-19 library information.
Contactless circulation services are now available, allowing faculty and students to request physical materials from library collections. TFDL is the pick-up location for these materials. Please do not return any books or other physical materials to the Health Sciences Library.
Details on how to access this service.
Access to electronic collections are available to students, staff and faculty (including clinical instructors) via the library’s website.
The library’s online chat service is available for those looking for immediate access to one of the library’s staff experts. The option to chat is on the bottom right of the screen on the library’s website.
For complex research questions, personalized consultation appointments with librarians are available. Topics for consultation include (but are not limited to) providing guidance on protocol development and data collection for scoping/systematic reviews, collaborating on grant submissions, and advising on the development of research data management plans. To book a meeting with a health sciences librarian, email hslibr@ucalgary.ca.
Faculty and instructors now have access to a new online reading list management system (through D2L).
The library team has developed a variety of online research guides to assist researchers and students in accessing additional information about library collections and services.
For more information, or to book an appointment with one of the Health Sciences librarians, contact Health Sciences Library, or Diane Lorenzetti (Director, Health Sciences Library).
