Quarantunes is our weekly playlist project to share songs that are keeping our UCalgary Nursing community going.

Sick - Charlie Puth

Sherry Brudnyi, first-year nursing student

"The song really spoke to me because he speaks to the uncertainty that so many people are facing during this pandemic. He sings from the perspective of all those who are staying at home and feel powerless in this time of uncertainty. He recognizes the pain that people who lose loved ones deal with and the fear of those who are sick. This song is beautifully melodic and helps unite everyone with hope and understanding in these trying times."

Never Know – Jack Johnson

Lynda Sea, Digital Communications Specialist, Development, Alumni Engagement & Communications

“Jack Johnson’s In Between Dreams is one of my favourite albums of all time. This song simultaneously cheers me up and makes me reflective. Love the lyrics - some lines fit the uncertain time we’re living in: ‘We're just moments/ We're clever but clueless/ We're just human/ Amusing and confusing/ But the truth is, all we got is questions.”

Before U - Sonny Fodera & King Henry ft. AlunaGeorge

Megan Keszler, nursing Instructor

"This song is a reminder that we are never alone even when we feel that way."

I Won't Let You Down - OK Go

Erika Castillo, Coordinator, Development, Alumni Engagement & Communications

"This is the kind of song that makes you want to go dancing down the street. Definitely one of my faves! Plus the music video is brilliant."

Natural Woman - Aretha Franklin

Aimee Mains, NurseMentor Coordinator, Development, Alumni Engagement & Communications

“Aretha doesn’t need an introduction. Just take a listen, play it loud, and be sure you’re sitting down!”
