PRISM website unavailable for submissions between March 17 – 24

Institutional Repository to Migrate to National Platform

The university’s PRISM website will be unavailable for submissions between March 17 – 24 due to a planned data migration.

UCalgary’s Library, along with several other Canadian institutions, has entered into an agreement with Scholaris, a national shared repository service, managed by  Scholars Portal to host its institutional repository. The move will allow the university to stay at the cutting edge of Canadian repository infrastructure, offering insights into best practices, discovery, electronic theses and dissertations, and digital preservation. It will also enable the Library to focus on supporting faculty, staff and students.

The partnership offers numerous benefits for users and institutions, including:

  • Baked in integrations
  • Centrally managed hosting and upgrades
  • Shared resources and shared expertise
  • Engagement with a vibrant national repository network

For those unfamiliar with PRISM, it is UCalgary’s institutional repository that enables archiving of articles, books, theses and other scholarly publications. It is used to manage, preserve, and make available the academic works of faculty, students, and research groups.

Why should someone consider depositing their scholarly work in PRISM?

  • Facilitate knowledge sharing
  • Foster collaboration
  • World-wide discovery and use of scholarly works
  • Preserve work on a stable, secure, platform with a DOI
  • Meet open access grant requirements
  • Increase impact of Canadian research excellence
