In this podcast, Snyder Institute member Dr. Laura Sycuro speaks with EMJ interviewer Dr. Jonathan Sackier and provides insights into the microbiome, what it means and how it affects mother and child. How does microbial transmission from a mother to a child impact lifelong health of the child? And, still one of the greatest debates in the field: when does a baby’s microbiome start to form? The pair discuss the interaction between human microbiota and disease, microbial imbalances and how to correct them, and how microbial transmission from mothers impacts the lifelong health of their children. They further dive into the vaginal microbiome and chorioamniotic infection in pre-term labour.  Listen to the podcast.
