PeopleSoft HR interface set for major update
A new and improved user interface will be implemented for the University of Calgary’s PeopleSoft HR system later this month. The update, launching at 8 p.m. June 25, offers more intuitive and user-friendly navigation for managers and staff HR-related functions.
The My UCalgary portal and the Integrated Task List aren’t changing, but the experience for performing tasks within PeopleSoft will be improved. The update will make it easier to locate information and initiate people-related transactions, and features a mobile-friendly interface, a visually appealing design and intuitive navigation.
For employees, functions within the portal such as time reporting and reviewing benefits and vacation and leave balances will be improved.
Key improvements for managers include:
- My Team gives at-a-glance view of direct and indirect reports, with key employee data such as vacation liability, position data and compensation information.
- Manager Alerts highlights time-sensitive activities such as expiring appointment dates, probation review due dates etc.
- Manager Insights provides real-time analytics on team data.
The design of the new interface was influenced by users who provided feedback to help make the transition as smooth as possible for UCalgary staff.
“The process of putting together the new interface was a very positive experience,” says Sue Miller, MSc’05, strategic operations manager at the Taylor Centre for Teaching and Learning. “Managers were asked to join the HCM Fluid Working Group and given the opportunity to share practical challenges that were experienced in the previous version current mode.
“Making these changes is a way for our faculty and staff to have a visually pleasing, accessible online workspace that will save time and streamline efficiencies when performing PeopleSoft HR tasks.”
This change will also provide the foundation for future improvements and support the continuous improvement approach of the new HR Service Model.
