Paige Wyatt wins Dr. Gord Sleivert Award!

Paige Wyatt received first place for this year’s Dr. Gord Sleivert Young Investigators Award at this year’s SPIN Summit. Paige is completing her Master’s of Science in Kinesiology under the supervision of Dr. Lauren Burt and Dr. Steven Boyd at the Bone Imaging Laboratory.

Paige’s presentation was titled “Is bone quality assessed with advanced medical imaging predicted by LEAF-Q score?” and shared some of her research examining bone health in elite Canadian Long Track Speed Skaters.

The Sport Innovation (SPIN) Summit was virtually hosted by Own the Podium (OTP) and the Canadian Sport Institute Pacific. This conference focuses on sharing the expertise of national and international sport scientists together to share knowledge and improve support for Canadian athletes.

The Young Investigators Award is a memorial award for Dr. Gord Sleivert who passed away suddenly in 2012 while working with the National Swimming Team in Montreal.
