Outstanding Book award

At the International Society for the History of the Neurosciences annual meeting in Lisbon, Portugal, Frank Stahnisch received the 2026 "Outstanding (Non-Biography) Book Award in the History of Neuroscience" for Great Minds in Despair: The Forced Migration of German-Speaking Neuroscientists to North America, 1933 to 1989, published by McGill-Queen's UP (2025).

Dr. Stahnisch would like to acknowledge Dr. Jim Ellis and the Calgary Institute for the Humanities for the 2021/22 Fellowship-in-Residence program provided dedicated time that supported the final stages of the manuscript. It is clear that the support from the CIH, combined with Frank's hard work, paid off.
