The O’Brien Institute for Public Health is deeply saddened by the passing of Dr. Hude Quan on Feb. 2, 2026. A longstanding member of the O’Brien Institute, Hude made extraordinary contributions to public health research, health services research, and health data science in Alberta, Canada, and internationally.
Within the O’Brien Institute, Hude was known not only for the depth of his expertise but for his generosity and collegiality. He was an active participant in the Institute’s Internal Peer Review program and consistently stepped forward to support colleagues by answering questions, offering guidance, and contributing his time and insight to strengthen shared work. His commitment to collaboration and mentorship embodied the spirit of the Institute and enriched our research community.
