The numbers are in: Faculty of Arts breaks Giving Day record

Funds raised will support more than 50 initiatives
Giving Day Thank You

UCalgary’s fifth annual Giving Day wrapped up on April 22nd, and it was a big success for the Faculty of Arts.  Early on in the campaign, Arts took and held the top spot of all faculties and units across campus for both dollars raised and number of donors.

This Giving Day, the Faculty of Arts received record-breaking support from our community, raising more than the previous four Giving Days combined for a total of over $780,000 (over $415K in gifts and $365K in matching funds) from over 700 alumni, faculty and staff, students and community champions. Incredible!

To give some perspective, previous to this, in its best year, Giving Day 2020, Faculty of Arts raised just over $152,000 from 160 donors.

Arts also hit another significant milestone this year.  Since the launch of UCalgary Giving Day in 2017, the Faculty of Arts has benefitted from over $1,500,000 in support – support that is creating lasting, positive change to elevate our students’ experiences, to enhance existing programs and create new ones, and to advance critical and creative research.

This initiative touched every corner of the faculty.  In fact, 52 different funds in the faculty received donations – to build a Sikh Studies program, to increase support for the Public Humanities program in the Calgary Institute for the Humanities, to create the new Faculty of Arts Indigenous Student Success Fund, to grow personal named scholarships and awards – and so much more.

None of this would have been possible without Arts faculty and staff. Thank you for showing your support – whether by making a personal gift or helping to promote the event or both – your Giving Day gift takes us further.
