New Alberta Sulphur Research Ltd. (ASRL) Research Chair in Faculty of Science

Congratulations to chemistry professor Rob Marriott who has been appointed the inaugural ASRL Research Chair in Applied Sulphur Chemistry

On behalf of the Faculty of Science, I would like to congratulate Dr. Rob Marriott for his appointment as the inaugural Alberta Sulphur Research Ltd. (ASRL) Research Chair in Applied Sulphur Chemistry, in the Faculty of Science at the University of Calgary.

For almost 60 years, ASRL, in partnership with the Faculty of Science and the Department of Chemistry, has been at the forefront of scientific research and development on sulfur chemistry. It has been a long-standing goal to create a permanent endowed academic chair linked with ASRL, and we are incredibly excited to make this announcement today.

Dr. Marriott is a professor of Physical Chemistry at the University of Calgary. He is an experimental thermodynamicist with research interests in high-pressure sour gas properties and applied sulfur chemistry. Dr. Marriott’s research group focuses on optimizing gas conditioning in the presence of H2S, bulk fluid separation by ionic liquids, high-pressure water-hydrocarbon solution chemistry (including hydrates), and fundamental properties of elemental sulfur under industrial conditions.

Please join me in congratulating Dr. Marriott on his appointment.
