The University of Calgary community is mourning the loss of Riccardo (Ric) Hon To Wong, who passed away suddenly at the age of 19 in Calgary, Alberta.

Ric was a first-year UCalgary student in the Faculty of Science. Born in Hong Kong to Chaucer K.C. Wong and Sharon Hung Ping Tso, he moved to Canada in 2015 and to Calgary in 2016, where he graduated from Sir Winston Churchill High School.

Ric was interested in all things electronic, especially gaming, and was fascinated with creating items with 3D printing. He delighted in learning woodwork and metalwork at high school and continued this interest at home with handmade art projects. Ric also loved watching Japanese anime and shared this interest with other enthusiasts at school and with his cousins. Ric was known for his enthusiasm for computers, his quiet humour, and his kindness to younger relatives.
