In Memoriam: John Bodman

For those UCalgary Nursing students and alumni who had the privilege of meeting him, we are sad to pass on the news that John Bodman passed away on October 3, 2019.  John was a great champion for nursing and for our faculty, in particular our students to whom he told his story of living with homelessness each year when he talked to community health theory classes.   

He led students on evening walk-abouts downtown to meet and talk face-to-face with people living on the streets and made course concepts come alive for students in a very gritty, realistic way.  His memorial service will be Sat. Oct. 19 at 11 a.m. at the Centre of Hope, 420 – 9 Ave. SE. John was 75.
