Mac’s induction into the Calgary Business Hall of fame

Mac Van Wielingen joins the prestigious group of individuals on the Calgary Business Hall of Fame

Dick Haskayne, JR Shaw, Max Bell, and Ralph T. Scurfield are some of the most iconic and influential business leaders in the history of Calgary. They are also all members of the Calgary Business Hall of Fame, which recognizes lifetime achievements of distinguished leaders in the business community. These leaders shape the province through business success, entrepreneurial spirit and philanthropic contributions. They are role models for the youth and business leaders of tomorrow. This year Mac Van Wielingen joined this prestigious group of people in the Calgary Business Hall of Fame.

Mac Van Wielingen is co-founder of ARC Financial, ARC Resources Ltd. and also the co-founder and Chair of the Canadian Centre for Advanced Leadership in Business (CCAL). Mac has had a keen interest in leadership, organizational culture and organizational governance, built on 30 years of experience as an entrepreneur and corporate executive. As a result, Mac has won many awards such as Distinguished Business Leadership Award (Haskayne School of Business and the Calgary Chamber of Commerce) and the Calgary Ivey Leadership Award.

Further, Mac has had a wide range of philanthropic and community contributions. One significant investment is his leadership as a founding donor to Haskayne to create the Canadian Centre for Advanced Leadership in Business (CCAL). The Canadian Centre for Advanced Leadership in Business (CCAL) was launched to support student engagement, to foster the research, and community connections in the area of advanced leadership and ethics at the Haskayne School of Business. Many impactful programs such as the Haskayne Professional Mentorship Program, Leadership Expedition and the Haskayne Guided Path System™ were created for students as a result of the creation of CCAL. These programs focused on Advanced Leadership, allow us to make important progress on our knowledge of Advanced Leadership as well as provide growth and learning opportunities for the students and the community.

Mac’s contributions have had an impact on business and on the university. His view on leadership is inspiring, refined by decades of significant observation and his own research. The CCAL team would like to congratulate Mac on his outstanding achievement on being inducted in the Calgary Business Hall of Fame.
