Lieutenant Governor of Alberta Arts Awards Foundation 2024 Emerging Artist - James Odin Wade, MFA’16
James Odin Wade, MFA'16, a drama alumnus of the School of Creative and Performing Arts (SCPA), has been honoured as the 2024 Emerging Artist (Theatre) by the Lieutenant Governor of Alberta Arts Awards Foundation.
This prestigious award recognizes Wade's exceptional talent, dedication and contributions to the arts community. His innovative work continues to inspire and elevate the standards of artistic excellence.
“I’m honoured to be among the recipients of this year’s Emerging Artist Awards, and to be recognized in this way by my home province. My time as a graduate student in the SCPA was incredibly formative. Studying with faculty, particularly under the guidance of Clem Martini, vastly evolved my craft and deepened my understanding of drama.”
Based in Calgary, Alberta, James Odin Wade is a prominent playwright and screenwriter whose works have been showcased in numerous cities across North America. His plays have been produced in Calgary, Edmonton, Lethbridge, Regina, Toronto and Chicago, collaborating with esteemed theatre organizations such as Lunchbox Theatre, Theatre Calgary, various Canadian Fringe Festivals, The University of Lethbridge, The University of Calgary, Sage Theatre’s Ignite! Festival, Death & Pretzels, Steel River Playhouse and The Road Theater Company.
