Help new students navigate their first days on campus
The University of Calgary is welcoming back the Ask Me and Greeter programs for another year of helping students navigate their first days on campus. These programs exist as an important resource to new students, designed to answer frequently asked questions ranging from, “Where do I pick up my Unicard?” to “Who can I talk to about my mental health?”. The programs’ dedicated volunteers make it their mission to help new students orient themselves to university life.
Join the Ask Me and Greeter programs’ volunteer team this year and help positively shape student experience. Sign up today to become part of new student orientation during the month of September.
Ask Me program
Volunteers are needed to assist with the Ask Me program throughout the month of September. Ask Me is facilitated by student and staff volunteers, who wear red “Ask Me” buttons, making them highly visible to students. Additionally, offices on campus can receive a red “Ask Me” poster to display, indicating they are a workspace available to answer student inquiries.
New students are encouraged to approach anyone wearing an Ask Me button or displaying an Ask Me poster for assistance. Furthermore, the Ask Me tent is an information location run by volunteers. Sign up for a shift today.
Volunteers are being recruited for the morning of Sept. 3 to welcome students between 7:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. on the first day of Fall Orientation. The Greeter program assists in wayfinding for incoming students as they arrive to campus to begin their journey as a Dino. Greeters are distributed across campus at common arrival and high traffic areas.
Volunteers wear a UCalgary sweater and receive complimentary coffee for the event. Lend your UCalgary knowledge and a friendly face on the first morning of Fall Orientation by signing up today.
