Alumni Weekend 2019 will feature a conversation with UCalgary alumna Susanne Craig.

As a UCalgary political science student chasing assignments at the Gauntlet, Susanne Craig could never have imagined, 30 years later, that she’d win a Pulitzer Prize.

Craig, BA’91, now a journalist with the New York Times, was anonymously mailed President Donald Trump’s 1995 tax returns during the 2016 U.S. presidential election. This led to an 18-month-long investigation into Trump’s finances that resulted in a Pulitzer-winning article co-authored by Craig and two Times colleagues.

On Saturday, Sept. 7, the Alumni Weekend spotlight will be on Craig as she is joined in conversation by fellow journalist and now UCalgary Chancellor, Deborah Yedlin. Registration for this event, which includes lunch, is now open.

The opportunity to view world events through the lens of economics and politics with Craig and Yedlin is an experience exclusive to Alumni Weekend. “Beyond that, both of our guests have found great success by aligning their passion and purpose,” says Michael Sclafani, associate vice-president of alumni engagement and partnerships.

“We can all learn a great deal from them.”

UCalgary Alumni Weekend takes place Sept. 5 to 8 and features a host of engaging experiences for attendees of all ages. It kicks off with a special staff and faculty lunch and the UCalgary Alumni Association’s Arch Awards on Sept. 5. An Alumni Block Party on Sept. 6 leads into the Dinos Football season kickoff. Sept. 7 will be a day filled with family-friendly experiences, with events at both the main and downtown campuses, and, on Sept. 8, Yedlin will lead the first Chancellor’s Ride through the countryside west of Calgary.

Register now for one of these exciting events and make Alumni Weekend part of your weekend.
