The Faculty of Arts is thrilled to announce that Dr. Shelley Alexander, PhD, a professor in the Department of Geography, has been elected as a Fellow of the Royal Canadian Geographical Society (RCGS). Fellowships are awarded to individuals who have provided distinguished service to Canada in alignment with the Society’s mandate. This year, the RCGS inducted 30 remarkable individuals into the College of Fellows. These Fellows have demonstrated a commitment to supporting the Society’s mission of enhancing Canada's presence both nationally and globally.

Past Fellows include luminaries such as Frederick G. Banting, co-discoverer of insulin; pioneering anthropologist and explorer Diamond Jenness; artist A.Y. Jackson of the Group of Seven; and prominent figures like Tommy Douglas, Farley Mowat, and Roberta Bondar. Recent inductees include novelist and poet Margaret Atwood, as well as cultural anthropologist, ethnobotanist, photographer and writer Wade Davis.
