Dr. Perri Tutelman awarded a Canadian Cancer Society Emerging Scholar Research Grant

The Canadian Cancer Society has awarded an Emerging Scholar Research Grant to Dr. Perri Tutelman, PhD, assistant professor in Transdisciplinary Digital Mental Health in the Department of Psychology. She is one of six emerging researchers to be awarded a Pillar 2 Category grant that advances clinical cancer research.

This grant recognizes and builds on Tutelman's work in addressing research priorities of young cancer patients.

Her research team is currently developing a tool that will aid in care planning and wellbeing for adolescents and young adults with advanced cancer. Having a tool designed by and for young people with advanced cancer will allow those people to better express their wishes for the future.

“Conversations about future care, including the possibility that treatment may not go as hoped, are some of the hardest that young people with cancer, their families and their healthcare teams will have," Tutelman says. "This funding will help us create and implement tools to make those conversations easier so every young person has the opportunity to share what matters most to them.”
