Dr. Bharwani recognized for leadership and inspirational vision

Dr. Aleem Bharwani has been named the recipient of the 2015 Leadership Award by the Association of Chiefs in General Internal Medicine (ACLGIM).

Dr. Aleem Bharwani has been named the recipient of the 2015 Leadership Award by the Association of Chiefs in General Internal Medicine (ACLGIM).

Dr. Bharwani, a clinical assistant professor, is just the fifth recipient of the award since its creation in 1999.  Dr. Bharwani is a specialist in internal medicine and holds directorships for both the Medical Teaching Unit and Mentorship Program at the Cumming School of Medicine. He is also the Scientific Director of the Office of Leadership Development at the University of Calgary.

The award is given to a member of the ACLGIM who is within the first ten years of faculty appointment and recognizes skills in leadership in any area of academic medicine. Dr. Bharwani is recognized for his understanding of setting an inspirational vision and mission and for exemplifying the attributes of leadership the ACLGIM prioritizes.

The award will be presented to Dr. Bharwani at the ACLGIM Annual Dinner, held in conjunction with the Society of General Internal Medicine (SGIM) Annual Meeting in Toronto in April 2015.
