CAS Pinnacle Rounds Program - Call for proposals!
Dear ACUDA Chairs,
We hope this letter finds you well. The Canadian Anesthesiologists’ Society (CAS) is pleased to announce that the Pinnacle Rounds Program will continue in 2025 and a call for submissions is open for the endorsement and presentation of outstanding teaching rounds from each university's anesthesia department. We kindly request your department's participation in this prestigious opportunity to showcase exceptional clinical practice knowledge and guidelines based on evidence and best practices.
Objective:
The objective of this initiative is to highlight outstanding teaching rounds that demonstrate the highest standards of clinical education in the field of anesthesiology. These rounds should focus on enhancing the professional development and knowledge of anesthesiologists and trainees by providing practical insights, evidence-based practices, and guidelines applicable to the field.
Submission Guidelines:
- Eligibility: Each university anesthesia department is invited to submit one teaching round for consideration.
- Internal Selection Process: Prior to submission, please ensure your department conducts an internal selection process to identify the best teaching round from among your faculty members and trainees. The selection should be based on the quality of the content and delivery, its relevance to clinical practice, and adherence to evidence-based guidelines.
- Content: The submitted teaching round should not be a review of someone's personal research, but rather emphasize clinical practice knowledge, review of important relevant topics, evidence-based guidelines, and best practices.
- Format: The teaching round should be submitted in a written format, preferably as a PowerPoint presentation and a 1-2 page summary of the objectives and content of the round.
- Length: The teaching round should be no longer than 45 minutes in duration with 15 minutes for questions.
- References: The inclusion of proper references and citations to support the evidence-based content is highly encouraged.
Submission Process:
- Deadline: The deadline for submission of the teaching round is Tuesday, October 1, 2024.
- Please submit your round using this link. If you have difficulty, please reach out to education@cas.ca
Selection and Endorsement:
- Review Process: The CAS Continuing Education and Professional Development Committee will carefully consider all submissions based on topic and content to ensure that they meet the identified educational needs of our members, and candidates will be notified by November 2024.
- Recognition: In addition to the opportunity to present their research on a national stage, the selected presenters will receive a letter of recognition by the CAS, acknowledging their exemplary contribution to anesthesia education.
Presentations will take place virtually via Zoom Webinar on the first Wednesday of the month at 8:00 p.m. ET.
We strongly encourage your department's participation in this initiative, as it provides an exceptional opportunity to showcase educational excellence from your institution on a national platform.
