Call for UCalgary Portrait Artists

The University of Calgary is seeking a talented portrait artist to create a series of portraits for the upcoming UCalgary Arch Awards. This opportunity is open to UCalgary alumni and current students. We are commissioning portraits of 5–8 award recipients who exemplify excellence in their fields, celebrating their achievements through expressive and impactful artwork.
 

Details and Requirements
 

Portraits must accurately and flatteringly capture each recipient’s likeness while allowing the artist’s unique style to shine.
 
Artists may work in either digital or traditional mediums.

Final artwork must be 8” x 10” at 300 dpi.

Portraits will be featured in both digital and print promotional materials and displayed
on screens during the ceremony.

Artwork may be cropped or adjusted as needed for promotional use.

Reference photos will be provided by the client, though quality and quantity may vary.
Photos are expected by May 23, 2025.

Sketches and one final portrait approved and finalized by June 13, 2025; final artwork of the remaining portaits approved and finalized by July 11, 2025.

The project budget is approximately $3,600, depending on the final number of portraits.

Please include a per-portrait quote in your submission.

Samples of previous portrait work that reflect the style you would use for this project.

Confirmation of your availability to meet the project deadlines.
