Keeta Gladue admits that prior to beginning her journey as a social work student at UCalgary she had some preconceived notions of what the field entailed, not all of them positive.

But, upon further research, she says she became “impressed” by how widely respected UCalgary’s Social Work program is, and by the potential opportunites it could afford her in her career.

An alumna of the BSW program (Class of 2019), Gladue has continued her with her studies at UCalgary in the Leadership in Human Services MSW stream. Additionally, she currently serves as the Indigenous Student Program Advisor at UCalgary's Writing Symbols Lodge and has made headlines for her research in that student community.

“I want to support transformational change and bring in equity and inclusion for vulnerable people and racialized minorities,” she says of her future ambitions. “People who are not given an equal opportunity in our community.”
