Brian Grant Undergraduate Philosophy Essay Contest

The Department of Philosophy invites continuing University of Calgary Undergraduate students to participate in our annual philosophy essay contest (approx. $1,000.00 value). Entrants must meet the following criteria to be eligible for the award: 

• Minimum 3.00 GPA in the 2025-2026 academic year
• Have completed at least 24 units in the 2025-2026 academic year
• Continuing full-time in the 2026 Fall term

Submit your essay (min. 1000 words, max. 5000 words) on a topic in philosophy by APRIL 19, 2026 to phil@ucalgary.ca.
