Dr. Jenny Godley has been appointed as the new Associate Dean, Transdisciplinary Scholarship, Faculty of Graduate Studies

The Faculty of Arts is excited to share that Dr. Jenny Godley, PhD, a professor in the Department of Sociology, has been appointed as the new Associate Dean, Transdisciplinary Scholarship, Faculty of Graduate Studies. The appointment was effective Nov. 1, 2024.

Dr. Godley will be responsible for the development and delivery of the newly approved certificates and course-based Master’s in transdisciplinary studies as well as the thesis-based Master’s and PhD in transdisciplinary research.

Currently a professor of Sociology with the Faculty of Arts, Dr. Godley also holds an adjunct appointment in the Department of Community Health Sciences in the Cumming School of Medicine. Dr. Godley is a transdisciplinary health scholar and serves as an Academic Co-Lead of the Health and Life Focus within the Institutes of Transdisciplinary Scholarship.

Dr. Godley has shown commitment to providing transdisciplinary mentorship through supervising, co-supervising, serving as a supervisory committee member, or examining committee member for over fifty graduate and post-graduate students at UCalgary across a variety of departments and Faculties. Additionally, Dr. Godley provided transdisciplinary leadership across campus in her role as Chair of the Conjoint Faculties Research Ethics Board from 2019-24. In this role, she has interacted extensively with graduate students, supervisors, and graduate program directors across all Faculties, providing a solid foundation from which to develop innovative transdisciplinary graduate programs.
