Advancing cardiac care
Dr. Omid Kiamanesh, MD, recently joined the Libin Cardiovascular Institute as a cardiologist specializing in advanced heart failure, echocardiography, and cardiac intensive care.
Kiamanesh grew up in Vancouver and completed his medical school at the University of British Columbia. He went on to complete residencies in internal medicine and cardiology at the same institution, where he was chief medical and chief cardiology resident.
Kiamanesh went on to complete fellowship training in advanced heart failure, mechanical circulatory support and cardiac transplantation, followed by advanced echocardiography at the University of Toronto before moving to Calgary in October 2020 to complete his advanced echocardiography fellowship.
He is currently part of three groups in Calgary that care for some of the most ill heart patients. These include the advanced heart failure, transplant and LVAD team, the echocardiography team and the cardiac intensive care team.
Kiamanesh also enjoys the ability to team up with colleagues on research projects. His interest in this area lies in quality improvement, patient safety, advanced heart failure, and cardiac mechanics.
Dr. Omid Kiamanesh is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Cardiac Sciences at the Cumming School of Medicine and a member of the Libin Cardiovascular Institute.
