2027 University of Calgary Teaching and Learning Grants applications now open

The University of Calgary is home to an incredible community of researchers who explore and develop new, innovative knowledge about post-secondary teaching and student learning. Their research examines emerging issues in higher education, multiple ways of knowing and being, and informs teaching and learning communities, cultures and practices.

Each year, the university awards individual and team funding to conduct scholarly research through the University of Calgary Teaching and Learning Grants. This initiative demonstrates our commitment to enhancing student learning by supporting research that informs culturally relevant and scholarly teaching practices. The program is also an important tool for developing educational leadership capacity across campus.

To better support applicants and strengthen alignment with the university’s strategic priorities, the 2027 program introduces important enhancements. A streamlined application process has been consolidated into five priority areas: 

• Digital Transformation in Teaching and Learning
• Program Innovation 
• Signature Learning Experiences 
• Commitment to an Inclusive, Caring, and Sustainable UCalgary Culture
• Advancing Institutional Commitments to ii’ taa’poh’to’p.

Funding and timeline options have also been updated. Applicants may request up to $10,000 for one-year projects, up to $20,000 for two-year projects, or up to $30,000 for three-year projects. Each funding option remains eligible for the $5,000 Emerging Scholar Incentive. We invite applications from academic staff and librarians, archivists and curators, student service professionals, and administrative staff. Those interested are encouraged to make use of application supports available and begin preparing their submission package now.
