2020 Inspirational Graduate Student Award
Kirnvir Dhaliwal (recipient)
Nominated by Sarah Dewell
Doctoral student Kirn Dhaliwal believes in the benefit of generating data to better the correctional practice environment for both nurses and their clients. Undeterred by the challenge of conducting research in an undeveloped area within nursing research in Canada, Kirn has blazed her own path to become a leading expert in this topic area. She is also a leader among her fellow graduate students.
For 10 years, Kirn has volunteered with the Calgary Police Service, a role that requires tact, compassion and excellent communication skills. She is tirelessly dedicated to whatever endeavour she engages in. Not only is she respected for this dedication, but also for the manner in which she makes everyone feel included. Despite her very busy schedule (school, work, volunteerism), she ‘walks the talk’ of health and wellness by dedicating time to her own well-being.
Amelia Potter (nominee)
Nominated by Krista Putnam
Amelia’s unique combination of focus, tenacity and professionalism combined with her caring demeanour make her an inspirational role model.
