Bell Let's Talk Day

On January 30 for Bell Let's Talk day, a number of faculty, staff and students dropped by the engagement booths at the CSM to leave positive messages about mental health, learn about on-campus resources, enjoy some pet therapy and tasty breakfast snacks.

The conversation continued into the evening as the Mathison Centre for Mental Health Education & Research, in collaboration with the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA), hosted a free screening of 'The Perks of Being a Wallflower' as part of the CSM's Science in the Cinema series. The sold-out evening featured a panel discussion with Dr. Scott Patten, MD, PhD, Dr. Gina Dimitropoulos, PhD, and Nigel Mayers, Peer Support Worker, CMHA, on the mental health of youth. Mathison Centre director Dr. Paul Arnold, MD, PhD, was the emcee for the evening.

Thank you to everyone who participated throughout the day, and to all the volunteers. Let’s keep the conversation going all year long and work together to break down the stigma that surrounds mental illness.
